I should really get around to posting that.
#X3 TERRAN CONFLICT COCKPIT HOW TO#
I've been working on a modding primer for X3tc, with a list of mods that I play with, what they do, and how to install. Since you have not played the X games before, I would recommend starting with Terran Conflict. If you want, you can add me and I'll help out when I can. Hit Enter and then use the arrowkeys to make your way to the Controls menu to see what keys you need to press to fly around. You're more than welcome to if you want but X3 is ideally played with a mouse and keyboard. Add to that SRM Jobs (use 3.6e because 4.0 is still broken), and you get NPC ships using the new SRM ships, as well as a wider variety of named ships (like corporation convoys, more interesting sounding civilian ships (troop carrier, hospital ship). There are several different 'starts' available that set up the game universe and theres a semi-loose main mission chain that explores the conflict thats the backdrop for the universe but youre not even required to complete it. Despite flourishing trade, the clash of the races, cultures and life forms leads to new tensions, mistrust and eventually open conflict. A joystick is not needed in order to play any of the X games. It tweaks almost every ship in the universe (TS' get 200MJ shields, most M6s get at least one hangar bay, plus weapon/missile/cargo hold tweaks, like being able to properly fit an ATF Tyr) plus the Combat Mod tweaks combat, and is generally an awesome mod to have, especially when coupled with the Missile Revamp, which color-codes missiles based on range, and adds little graphics to the missile icon so you can tell if it's a swarm/df/IR/prox missile at a glance. #X3 TERRAN CONFLICT COCKPIT INSTALL#
If you're running mods anyways (I keep a DVD install of X3TC for mods (SRM, CMOD, Improved Races, Terran Revitalization Project, NPC Bailing/Boarding) in addition to the Steam copy (for achievements), you should be running SRM and CMOD.

SRM (Ship Rebalance Mod) has some cockpit mods, with and without HUDs/glass/reflections.
